For the men and women who run towards the situations that most people run away from.
Amid a flurry of exciting research and developments in the field of surf therapy, there is an ever-expanding evidence base that proves what anyone that has spent any significant amount of time in the sea already knows; it's good for your physical and mental health.
The emergency services, NHS, social workers, & military are all careers that attract people that have a sense of duty and a willingness to put others before themselves. Unfortunately, the reality of these jobs is often an increasing workload, decreasing staffing, and regular exposure to high-stress traumatic situations. In jobs that can often feel thankless, it's important to have a way to find perspective in personal time.
The personal experience I've had in my previous career and the positive effects I've observed in both myself and the hundreds of people I've taught to surf and paddleboard in the years since, has cemented for me the clear benefits of surfing on physical and mental wellbeing. I'm driven to share it with as many people as possible.
In the future, I'd like to offer funded surf therapy sessions through Blue Coast in partnership with organisations like Surfwell, The Wave Project, and local service providers, however as a fledgling business, this is something I hope to explore a little further down the line once the business is established.
In the meantime, all Blue Coast lessons & tours are offered at a 25% discount to all members of the emergency services, social workers, NHS workers, & military personnel. Just use the code downtime when booking using our online system with your work email address. I hope this encourages more people to get in the sea, have a go, and feel the benefits.
Thank you for doing a great job.
