Blue Coast Surf & Paddle acknowledges its role within the local community and its duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults in our care. We are committed to ensuring that our safeguarding practice reflects statutory responsibilities, follows government guidance, and complies with best practice as well as the requirements of our governing bodies.
We recognise that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. All employees, subcontractors, and volunteers are expected to understand their individual duties and ensure an appropriate and proportionate response to any safeguarding concerns or allegations. The owner of Blue Coast Surf & Paddle is the designated Safeguarding Lead / Child Wellbeing & Protection Officer (CWPO) and holds overall responsibility for the implementation of this policy.
Our Commitments
Blue Coast Surf & Paddle will:
• Promote and prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
• Listen to and respect the views of children and young people, including their ideas for making activities safer and more enjoyable.
• Ensure all staff, subcontractors, and volunteers in regulated roles undergo a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG scheme) check to prevent the employment of unsuitable persons.
• Ensure all staff, subcontractors, and volunteers undergo Sport Scotland Child Wellbeing & Protection in Sport training (or equivalent).
• Ensure everyone understands their roles and responsibilities in respect of safeguarding.
• Promote the sharing of relevant knowledge and arrange suitable training to improve individual understanding and awareness of safeguarding issues.
• Ensure appropriate action is taken in the event of incidents or concerns of abuse, and provide support to the individual(s) who raise or disclose a concern.
• Ensure that confidential, detailed, and accurate records of all safeguarding concerns are maintained and securely stored.
• Ensure safeguarding practice is inclusive and free from discrimination, and that all participants are treated fairly regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, ability, religion, or sexual orientation.
• Share age-appropriate safeguarding resources with parents and young people joining programmes like our Nippers Kids Surf Club.

Had such an amazing time paddle boarding. We lucked out that it was just the two of us for the beginners lesson. Toby was an amazing instructor and made us feel comfortable on the boards, great at explaining the right techniques so we don’t tire ourselves out and patient at us falling off. Would highly recommend this to anyone who hasn’t been paddle boarding before and would like to try it out. Will definitely be booking in for the costal tours.
We've used Blue Coast for paddleboard lessons and a tour over a few years. Consistently great experience, knowledgeable local guide. We'll be back for surf lessons next!
Had a great paddleboard lesson and tour with Adam 6/9/25.He was very friendly and knowledgeable and made us feel at ease and safe at all times.We’ve never had so much fun splashing around in the ocean,can’t wait to try it again.Highly recommend .

My son & I recently attended a beginners surfing course with Blue Coast Surf & Paddle, we had a brilliant time, the coach was patient with our many falls & the wetsuits kept us toasty. If you are looking to have some fun & learn something new, give it a try.
One of the highlights of our holiday! Fully recommend, great set-up and service. The guys were really nice, and we had a brilliant lesson with one of them. He taught us loads and made it very enjoyable. All the kit was provided, and it’s definitely worth doing whether you’re a complete novice or have tried paddle boarding before. Great fun.
Very friendly and willing to adapt to changing circumstance. Plenty of guidance before taking to the water and sufficient instructors on hand that instilled confidence that if my family got into difficulty they would be taken care of. A very enjoyable experience which i anticipate repeating.
A great unique attraction for people who like sports challenges. Fantastic and unique place. The host, FIN, professionally approached each of the participants, took care of safety and good atmosphere during the entire class. I recommend this attraction to everyone. It is really worth it
What a great experience! We loved our SUP session. Learnt some new skills and we all found our confidence by the end. We all managed to stand up which was brilliant! The instructors were so good- really calm, friendly and encouraging. Would definitely recommend. Thank you!
My son and I had a fantastic afternoon coasteering with Adam. Would thoroughly recommend this activity with Blue Coast Surf and Paddle.
Great lesson and tour along the Moray Coast at low water allowing access to lots of interesting caves and coves. Would go again.

We had such an awesome time coasteering today. Adam makes you feel safe and confident to push yourself out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself!
I booked this for family and partners, four people in their 20s, during a holiday in the North East. They had a brilliant time. Adam was, they told me, a lovely guy. He taught them a lot about wildlife and put together an entertaining morning where they felt in safe hands but were given the chance to explore and challenge themselves. Would recommend.

Perfect morning paddleboarding around the coast at Portknockie guided by Adam who was really friendly, knowledgeable and encouraging. Totally scored with the conditions, flat sea, grat water clarity, beautiful birds & jellyfish and best of all a pod of dolphins swam right past us. .Couldn't recommend this experience more highly.
My daughter (11) and son (9) attended the Kids Summer Surfing Camp this August (2025), and they had a great time! They’ve taken lessons with Blue Coast before and always look forward to them—this camp was no exception.
They loved learning new techniques and building on their existing skills. The instructors, as always, were welcoming and fantastic with the kids.
Highly recommend for any young surfers looking to build confidence or try their first lesson 😃
Amazing Coasteering Session !
100% recommend and keen to try out another activity offered in the future.
Booking: Easy to view the activities available online and booking is straightforward and the requirements are clear for what you will need for the activities and where to meet.
Activity: All instructions were clearly given with safety talks before heading out and also during the session. Pace of the activity is suited to the group allowing everyone to challenge themselves and not feel rushed or forced. The coasteering route was great with views out to the sea and offered a range of jumps into the sea (avoiding jellyfish!).
Very tankful to Blue Coast Surf & Paddle for a fantastic summer session in the sea.
