Booked to complete the Intro to SUP having received a Gift of it for my 60th last August. I managed to book to 11th July which was one of the hottest days of summer. From the safety briefing, the explanation of the equipment, how it's used and the different places and ways to use it, Adam knew it all. He was an attentive and engaging instructor, ably assisted by 'young Isaac' who proved by his approach and manners that capability is nothing to do with age but definitely experience. This delightful duo imparted masses of knowledge and opened my eyes to so much that I didn't know about paddle boarding. In next to no time almost everyone in our group was standing up on their board. If that wasn't pleasing enough, they taught us how to drop off the board safely which came in handy when I made a few unplanned dooks in the sea! Alas we were even taught how to rescue a fellow boarder who might be unresponsive on the water and unable to get themself on their board. The fun was interspersed with the important stuff you may never have considered and hopefully will never have to use. For me it was 2 glorious hours spent learning with ease on a beautiful day in a spectacular location. Easy to book, good customer service and great value for money. I'm hoping to return and do a trip around the coast next time. If you're wondering if you should have a shot, go for it. What's not to like? 😊

I had a great experience with Adam on a SUP lesson and tour from Portknockie harbour out towards Cullen, past bow fiddle rock. Amazing scenery. Adam is super friendly and easy going whilst knowledgeable and safety conscious. Incredible experience to have a dolphin pod swim past us when we were out on the water!

Booked to join the intro to SUP lesson on Friday which was one of the warmest days of summer so far. I joined an eclectic group of mixed age and ability students with Adam ably assisted by Isaac keeping us all safe and sound. Being a mere 60 years young and not so agile as the younger members of the group, I was delighted to be made feel as important as everyone else. The safety briefing was good, the explanations for each element of the learning was spot on and with great encouragement from the ever patient instructors everyone (I think!) was up on their feet in a relatively short time. This was my goal and whilst a little shaky and prone to a few unplanned dips in the sea, it was 2 of the best hours of summer so far. We were given lots of advice and information on boarding in different places and conditions and I came away feeling elated, pleased with my accomplishments, and looking even more forward to getting back on my board and putting into practice the new found skills I learned during the lesson. Who says you can't teach an old (sea) dog new tricks? These folks can 👍. If you're thinking of having a shot yourself p, do it I'd say.

We had a family SUP lesson in Portnockie harbour. Our family group was mixed ability and ages (from 10 to 65) which our instructor Adam managed very well. He and his young assistant were observant of the younger ones who at first weren't managing so well. Adam covered a lot in the two hour session and by the end everyone was confident and enjoying themselves. We would certainly go back for more!.

First time paddle boarding for all 4 of us. We were up in Cullen for a few days so decided to book a lesson. We really enjoyed it. Finn was our instructor and was really helpful, explained everything well and went at a great pace. There were a range of ages and everyone enjoyed it. There was lots of falling in and hilarity. We would definitely give paddle boarding a go again.

My first shot on an SUP and pretty much managed to succeed. I was standing happily in the shelter of Portnockie harbour after an hour but took a few tumbles out at sea. Great instruction from Adam and a lovely two hour paddle down the coast to the Bowfiddle Rock. Perfect weather. I would definitely recommend Blue Coast.

Adam was a terrific instructor on the Introduction lesson - our child was keen but nervous and Adam had just the right approach in being encouraging and clear about what to do. Easy to find information and book online, plus Adam was quick to respond to voicemail and WhatsApp. Would highly recommend Adam and his work.

Had a fantastic experience at Blue Coast, attended at Portknockie Harbour for a SUP lesson and tour. Adam was very informative and helpful with all instructions and we had a lot of practice in the harbour where we safely manoeuvred the paddleboard before heading out to sea. It was a glorious day and I spent a lot of time in the sea but that didn’t spoil my enjoyment l. Highly recommend this experience

Down arrow

The minimum age limit for our group activities is 8 years old. For paddleboard coastal tours, the minimum age limit is 12 years old.

You're never too old to get in the sea and have a go!

Will I be cold?

Down arrow

The water temperature in the Moray Firth ranges from 7-15°C. We find our high-quality 5mm thick winter wetsuits keep our customers toasty, as well as gloves, boots, and hoods if needed. We've had no complaints! You should be warm and comfortable for the duration of your lesson with us.

What if I don't have the balance to stand up?

Down arrow

Don’t worry, every SUP session starts by learning how to paddle on your knees and you can still enjoy all the elements of the session knee paddling.

What if I fall in?

Down arrow

This is all part of the fun. The main thing is not to panic; you're attached to a big float which you'll be able to climb back on to relatively easily. If you have any problems, your instructor will be there with you to help.

I have bought my own SUP, will I learn enough from a lesson to go out on my own?

Down arrow

We aim to teach you the skills to go out paddling safely and independently. This will include precautions to take when going out unsupervised, self-rescue, and important knowledge about suitable weather & sea conditions.

I've paddled before, can I go on a SUP tour?

Down arrow

You must already be a competent paddler to join one of our SUP tours. This means being able to confidently control the direction of your board and make steady progress. If you're in any doubt, consider taking one of our Introduction to SUP lessons first.
